Secretary of State in the Roosevelt Administration
Hull was a member of Congress and Senator in 1907-1933, and nominated Secretary of State in 1933. Although he expressed America's disapproval of the anti-Jewish policy in May 1933 to Germany's ambassador in the US and recalled the American ambassador from Berlin following Kristallnacht, Hull was opposed to any changes in America's Immigration policies, and hardly dealt with the refugee problem. Hull was very active in the establishment of the United Nations after World War Two and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace for this achievement.
